Srinagar, Jan 18: The Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board on Sunday organised a felicitation ceremony to honour Class 10 and 12 toppers of Waqf-run schools for the 2025 examinations, celebrating excellence in education.

The event was attended by Chairperson of the J&K Waqf Board, Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, who presided as the chief guest. Meritorious students were recognised for their outstanding performance, and principals of Waqf schools were also present. An interactive session allowed students to share their academic experiences and future aspirations.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Andrabi congratulated the students, noting that this was the first time Waqf schools had made a significant impact in the education sector with such encouraging results. She announced that the toppers would be taken on an educational and spiritual tour to Shrada Sharief in Jammu.

In a major initiative, Dr Andrabi revealed that Artificial Intelligence (AI) education will be introduced at Waqf schools, beginning with Sheikh-ul-Alam Waqf School in Charar-e-Sharief, making it the first Waqf-run school in Kashmir to offer AI-based learning. Teachers with expertise in AI will be specially recruited to ensure quality instruction.

Emphasising holistic education, the Waqf Board Chairperson highlighted the importance of moral values and Islamiat. She directed principals and teachers to focus on ethical education, character-building, and religious instruction alongside academic development.
