Iran , Jan 15 : Iran’s Foreign Minister on Tuesday dismissed reports suggesting an unusually high number of casualties, describing them as grossly exaggerated and part of a coordinated misinformation effort.
Addressing the issue, the minister said repeated attempts are being made to inflate the death toll, while the actual number of fatalities stands at only a few hundred. He said such claims are aimed at misleading both the public and the international community.
The Foreign Minister added that the government is completing a detailed verification process and that exact, confirmed figures will be released shortly, possibly later tonight. He stressed that only data backed by official verification will be made public.
Cautioning against speculative reporting, he warned that unverified information, especially on social media, is creating unnecessary panic and confusion. He said transparency remains a priority and assured that accurate details will be shared through official channels.
Urging restraint, the minister appealed to media organisations and the public to wait for the official announcement and avoid spreading misleading or inflated figures.
