New Delhi , jan 10 :  The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has appointed Noor Ahmad Noor as the Chargé d’Affaires (CdA) for Afghanistan’s Embassy in New Delhi, marking an important step in maintaining diplomatic and consular engagement between Kabul and New Delhi.

Noor Ahmad Noor, a senior diplomat of the Islamic Emirate, has arrived in the Indian capital to formally take charge of the mission. Before his appointment to New Delhi, he served as the Director General of the First Political Department at Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he handled key political and diplomatic portfolios.
The development follows earlier diplomatic understandings between India and the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.

Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar had reached an agreement with Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate, to accept diplomats appointed by Kabul to manage the Afghan Embassy in New Delhi. This understanding enabled the smooth appointment of a Chargé d’Affaires to oversee the embassy’s day-to-day functioning.

Officials said the Afghan Embassy in New Delhi will continue to focus on consular and humanitarian-related services, including assistance to Afghan nationals in India, coordination of medical and educational matters, and facilitation of humanitarian support. India has repeatedly stated that its engagement with Afghanistan is centred on the welfare of the Afghan people and the continuation of humanitarian assistance.

While India has not formally recognized the Islamic Emirate government, the acceptance of a Chargé d’Affaires reflects a practical diplomatic approach aimed at keeping communication channels open and ensuring uninterrupted services for Afghan citizens.

The appointment of Noor Ahmad Noor is expected to bring administrative stability to the Afghan mission in New Delhi and support structured interaction between the two sides amid changing regional and geopolitical circumstances.
