Kupwara , Jan 10 : At least three shops in Hijaj Market, Kupwara, were targeted by burglars during the night.

The affected shopkeepers include Muhammad Sadeeq Khan, a meat vendor from Chalgound, Hayhama; Fayaz Ahmed, a cloth merchant from Panzgam; and Ghulam Mohammad Wani, a dry fruit seller from Darusalam. The thieves struck while the market was closed, and the shopkeepers discovered broken locks and missing goods the next morning.

Although the exact value of the stolen items is still being assessed, preliminary reports indicate significant financial losses for all three traders. Locals and members of the traders’ community expressed concern, noting that Hijaj Market is a busy commercial hub for the area. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the suspects.
