Srinagar: Flight operations at Srinagar Airport were disrupted on Wednesday as six arrivals and departures were cancelled due to adverse weather conditions and operational constraints, airport authorities said.
The cancellations come amid dense fog affecting Jammu and several parts of north India, which has impacted aviation operations across the region.
According to information shared by Srinagar Airport on X, five flights were cancelled due to weather-related reasons. These included one IndiGo flight, tPoor visibility at the Indira Gandhi International airport runway due to dense foghree Air India flights, and one Air India Express service. In addition, one SpiceJet flight was cancelled due to operational reasons.
Airport authorities advised passengers to check the status of their flights with the respective airlines before heading to the airport. “Passengers are requested to reconfirm their flight status with the concerned airline prior to travel. Further updates will be shared as received. We regret the inconvenience caused,” the airport said in a post.
In a separate update, Srinagar Airport also informed that Air India Express flight IX 1271/1272 operating on the Jammu–Srinagar–Delhi sector was cancelled due to anticipated adverse weather conditions at Jammu. Passengers were advised to contact the airline for rebooking and assistance.
Meanwhile, the Airports Authority of India issued a general advisory stating that low visibility caused by dense fog is affecting operations at some airports in northern India, leading to possible delays and cancellations. Passengers have been urged to track real-time flight updates and arrive at airports earlier than usual.
Poor visibility due to fog has disrupted air travel in recent days, including at Delhi’s IGI Airport, where multiple flights were cancelled or diverted earlier this week.
