Inspirational: Jammu girl selected as Navy Officer; fulfilled grandfather’s dream
Jammu: A girl from Jammu has brought delights for the whole J&K region because she has been selected as a navy officer. Ayra, an electronics and communication engineer has been selected as an officer in Navy Force in the Indian army.
Speaking to the media, Ayra said, “My journey started from Presentation Convent Senior Secondary School. The school provided me the knowledge and education which built in me that confidence, where I am today. Since childhood it was my dream to join armed forces and work for my nation.”
“My grandfather, Bishambhar Das Jagotra, he was retired as airman. He wanted to retire as an officer but because of family circumstances he couldn’t make it, but it makes me feel proud that I being selected as an officer has fulfilled his dream after so long. Since my grandfather had also worked in the army and getting inspiration from him and with my confidence I pursued B.Tech in electronics and communication from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University.
“In my university, navy forces used to recruit students and the university provided me the exposure and a channel to turn my dream in reality. Then I gave entrance exam even though I was placed in three companies through my college but I was never interested in corporate jobs. I wanted to pursue armed forces. I left those jobs for my dream. I gave the exam, I cleared it, cleared the interview and in merit list I was commissioned.”
“I want to convey the message that if you dare to dream, you can dare to achieve it and I must say that I am blessed with very good parents in the sense that they supported we when I left those settled jobs. So I think if you believe in something, you want to pursue something , do it definitely, you will find a way and you will reach there, you just have to take the first step,” she further added.
“My name is Balwinder and my nickname is Bittu. I have shop of spare parts in Transport Nagar. I am very proud of her. She held our heads high with proud. She had her passing parade in Bangalore and we all went there. I was very happy to see the ambience there”, said Mr Balwinder, father of Ayra.
“When she was just 2-3 days old, I told my wife that I would admit her in Presentation Convent. I used to shut my shop and take her for 3 hours of coaching in Gandhi Nagar so that she can get admission in Presentation Convent. I used to wait outside the coaching for her. I want to say this to every parent: educate your daughter, show them dreams and they will achieve it. They have the capabilities to fulfill those dreams”, he added.
Arya’s mother Mrs Poonam said expressing happiness for her daughter, “I am very happy to see where my daughter is today. She has made me proud today. I just want to say our blessings are always with her. My father is the most happiest person right now. He is happy that his granddaughter is living his dream. She made her grandfather feel very proud”
