Jammu, November 10, 2022: Hundreds of Anganwadi workers held an agitation expressing their demands near Press club in Jammu,today.

The vexed protestors were seen raising slogans against the local administration demanding hike in their monthly salaries and implementation of minimum wage salary of 18000 by a government order.The protest was attended by dozens of protestors who were later taken to local police station in police buses by police.

Mrs Roshu Sharma General secretary of Anganwadi Welfare Association Jammu allegedly told the media that  their today’s  protest was to highlight their demands infront of local administration.

“Last month a delegation of Anganwadi workers gave our representations to  LG sir who assured us that he will look into our matter,  but still no heed was paid by the administration towards our demands and that’s why today we came out on the road”, she said.

She further said that they want their pending wages from the year 2018-19 along with pending honorium of past nine months to be released.

“We demand a well framed timely different promotion policies for our matrix class (10th) ,graduate and post-graduate based Anganwadi workers, otherwise we will intensify our protests in the coming days”, she added.

Moreover, she said that the state goverment is still paying them rupees 600 per month, which they want to be revised to a minimum wage of rupees 18000 per month.

“The administration is asking us to work on-line but I want to ask them, will they give us money for internet recharges”, she said.
