India saw a single-day rise of 19,406 Covid-19 infections, taking the total tally of Covid-19 cases to 4,41,26,994, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Saturday (August 6, 2022). As per the latest data, the active cases declined to 1,34,793 today. The death toll climbed to 5,26,649 with 49 new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.

A decrease of 571 cases has been recorded in the active Covid-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours. The country also reported 19,928 recoveries in a day. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease has increased to 4,34,65,552, while the case fatality rate has been recorded at 1.19 per cent.

While Jammu and Kashmir registered 823 fresh Covid-19 cases yesterday, taking the infection tally in the union territory to 4,68,245, officials said.

Two fresh deaths were also reported due to the Coronavirus, they said.

While 190 cases were reported from Jammu division, 633 cases were reported from Kashmir valley, the officials said.

The death toll due to the virus rose to 4,776 as two fresh deaths were reported from the union territory, the officials said.

There are 5,133 active cases of the disease in the union territory, while the number of recoveries has reached 4,58,336, the officials said.

The officials said there were 51 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus).
