Many women in the Samba district of Jammu earning their livelihood under Jammu and Kashmir State Rural Livelihood Mission (JKSRLM).

The centre supported Umeed Scheme is helping the local women of Samba by generating new avenues of earning income. The Amarnath Shrine pilgrimage came as a boon for the locals of Jammu especially for women associated with this Scheme because the Amarnath Shrine Board has given them a huge order of making rain coats.
Talking about the scheme one of the workers said that the Managing Director Ms Indukawaljeet has provided them with this job opportunity which is financially helping many destitute women today. They have been given a big order of making raincoats for the pilgrims of Shri Amarnath keeping in view the unpredictable weather conditions during the pilgrimage, these raincoats will be sold at the stalls near Chichi Mata temple.
One of the workers further revealed that it has been four years that she has been associated with this Scheme and now they are a group of 26 ladies who have been given order to make bracelets for the pilgrims and make arrangements of catering food for them as well.
