Govt. GLDM Degree College Hiranagar under the aegis of IQAC, AKAM Cell and NSS Unit Cheshta, organized a symposium on Green Consumerism. The main objective of the event was to make the students and faculty aware about the ethical and conscious consumerism. The Programme began with an introductory talk by Ms. Nidhi Jarngal, HOD Botany. While talking to the gathering, she deliberated on using earth friendly, cruelty free and plastic free amenities. She elaborated on the detrimental effects of useless buying and stressed on opting for companies and products that put planet and people first. Mr. Rakesh Sharma NSS PO, in his talk said that it is imperative to incorporate minimalism in our daily life to become green consumer. Dr. Chinky Sarngal, HOD Economics, discussed the economic perspective of green consumerism. Among the students, Ms Ritika, Ms Siya and Ms Nonnie of B.sc Sem 2nd and 6th also shared their views on the topic. The whole event was organised under the guidance and support of Worthy Principal, Dr. Pragya Khanna.
The Formal Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Anil Kumar Dogra, Convener AKAM Cell. The faculty members who witnessed the event were Mr. Manjot Singh, Mr. Arvind Kumar, Dr. Arun Kumar, Ms Neha Bhagat, Ms Kiran Thappa and Dr. Mukesh Kumar.
