The Rohingyas and other migrant workers illegally settled in Jammu Railway Station premises have been directed by the Railway Administration to vacate their land immediately. Hundreds of illegal shanties have been established around the East and West Colony of Jammu railway station, which can act as a dent in the security of the railways at any time. Outside the Jammu railway station premises, there is a vacant land of the Indian Railways on which the workers have set up their slums.
The engineering wing of the Railways had brought the matter to the notice of the District Commissioner, Jammu. After which, District Commissioner Jammu asked the police and administration to cooperate in getting the land cleared.
Railway officials have passed notices to the workers living there to vacate the railway land as a warning. He has asked the workers living there to vacate the said land soon. So that there can be four walls and railways can save their land from illegal occupation.
